Weekly Site Changes Update: May 1-7, 2020

Trying to pick back up where I left off, which led me to realize I still have others from earlier this year sitting in drafts.  *eep*

Backdated changes made:

  • Added April 18th, 2020–Office Window View since I wanted to use the image anyway as it was relevant to a post I wrote this week.
  • Reversed the order of the slideshow so the newest image shows first, then works backwards in time.  It’s much shorter than last year because I always drop off the year before’s images per recent update, and I still haven’t caught up posting all the 2019 Office Window Views.


Rollover, with notes and changes made:

  • Make 2020 Planting List page, reorg layout.
  • Finish catching up on missed former Office Window Views, don’t forget to add each to the widget slideshow.
  • Also go through media files and make sure all OWV labels and names are consistent.
  • Make sure earliest views are tagged as such, before we came up with the “tag”.
  • Deal with the over ride of captions from using them in the slide show–check original posts when needed to revert back to what they should be if they old caption is still there.  Decide how to deal with that moving forward.
  • Continue Tag cleanup (typos, dumb ideas, excessive, needed).
  • By May 1st at latest: Double check all posts’ Cats and Tags. (Oh, Past Me, I’m laughing right now.  But I also understand why this isn’t done too.  You had no idea how weird things would get back then when you set this deadline.)
  • Create either a widget or something under the Our Plants page that has all the new Tags listed for posts that used to be under sub cats of Plants or newly make Project Progress.
  • Stop dithering about what new page menu you want (esp the Friends? page).
  • Start a seed order list, make up mind about where to order.
  • Check back on the closer Native Plant places for hours–still closed due to C19?
  • Add at least one image a month to create a rotating header.
  • Polish missing posts overall.
  • Start sketching out format for 2Hr Garden series for consistency.
  • Finish current draft for first 2HG series this year.
  • Take the few idea boards and change out non natives.
  • Add one new plant a month.
  • Add one new critter a month.
  • Consider a Cloud tag/placement.
  • Work on the garden plot plan.
  • Feature image of the month widget?
  • Schedule for second story window view images (for better overall garden view)?
  • Any reality to time available for once a month comic?
  • Is it too early for a static home page to feature things?

[Note: If you shut off the scheduled post option to add something before you go to bed, don’t forget to turn it back on after you’re done!]
