First sighting of new green, from the orange curly day lilies

First green shoots of the year here.
Just barely noticed them heading back to a warmer inside after taking out kitchen bits to the compost.

I almost didn’t spot them, but as I swung around to step up on the concrete pad at the base of our side stairs–those tiny bits of bright green leaves peeking through was the first real sign I’d felt this year that spring really does start tomorrow.

I have the strongest urge to clear out the spent growth on top, but the near or below freezing temps aren’t quite done for this month just yet.

I’m also still a bit amazed at the drastically different color choices used on the foundation wall prior to our moving here. It won’t be too much longer before that will need a scrape and paint given all the flaking I’m seeing.  One photo we saw on an old street view showed the house in the middle of being repainted from a sunny yellow to “the storm is on its way” gray green.
