On one news aggregate site I haunt, there was a link yesterday that led me to an older article about the devastatingly low count of Monarchs in California last year. Continue reading “Of cats and butterflies.”

What I think about when I’m not out in the Garden, but my mind is still on it and not necessarily in a planning way.
It really is frozen.
Even though my brain knows that the temperatures have hovered mostly around freezing of late, I still found myself surprised when I tried to stick a plastic plant label that had come up back into the ground near the plant it belonged to, and failed. Continue reading “It really is frozen.”
Narrowing down a pile of dreams.
Courtesy Notice: This is another of my long rambling posts.
I don’t know about other folks, but in winter when I can do little on the grounds outside, my imagination runs wild with plans and ideas for our gardens. This has been especially true as the first year here falls further into the past, and my brain is harried by all we didn’t get done the year before. August passed, and now September progress, 2018
I have a few balls I’ve dropped, most of which I haven’t talked about much here. This week I hope to go back over my still in draft form posts and finishing up those before it gets too close to fall. Continue reading “August passed, and now September progress, 2018”

Really? Those are easy to grow!
When our soybeans failed to even break ground this year, it never occurred to me to go back and ask for a chat with the person that had told me before I’d planted them, “They’re so easy to grow!” I never thought to ask questions that might help me learn even one of the possible differences between gardens. We just blamed ourselves. I assumed it was critters because of all the disturbance we’d had in the soil, my partner blamed his black thumb since he was the one that put the seeds in the ground. Today, I had the ah-ha moment, which led to my writing this. Continue reading “Really? Those are easy to grow!”
Kira
I haven’t had much reason to mention my cat Kira here as she was an indoor only cat, so she wasn’t even a visitor in our garden. Still, whether it’s an excuse my mind has come up with to write about her or not, in one small way you share something in common with her. She also has seen my window views, though Kira saw them first hand on a different sort of looking glass–the actual window. Continue reading “Kira”
A day without rain! Whatever shall I do?
Today there is no rain scheduled until 9pm. We’ll see how that turns out. What I need to do is pick three possible things that take a while to possibly focus on, just in case when the sun comes up it looks like that forecast holds water. (Yes. Terrible pun. Have I mentioned I love puns here yet?) Continue reading “A day without rain! Whatever shall I do?”
