Keenly aware of our predicted 122 day growing season, we’re itching to get more into the ground.  At the same time, we’re trying to not repeat mistakes from last year which means more work being put into beds to make sure they are as hospitable as we can manage this year.  Another sunny day in which my partner was home early helped.  High at about mid 60s°F. I was at City Hall today to take care of a few things, and I stopped by the Conservation Commission office to touch base on a few works in progress like the milkweed seed packets, the upcoming Arbor Day sapling giveaway, and other things they do or have a hand in locally. Guardianship update: 8th August 2018

Yesterday was busy, so I didn’t get a chance to post news.  When I cleaned out the incubator yesterday, I found a single newly born.  I think one bit I thought was an egg was really just a tiny milkweed sap bubble.  I checked over the seed pods with a magnifying glass several times to be sure there were no remaining eggs before I put them back outside–they take up a lot of room in the incubator, and I wanted to bring in a stem with more leaves as all the larvae were getting bigger.
