As I myself was watching the days tick down in eager anticipation, I noticed the last few days that my usual goto site for dead basic weather information was noting frost advisories. Then today, they vanished. Continue reading “Why the Frost Free countdown changed”

Added the Friends? page
I honestly thought I had at least one or two more shots from last year, but I’m not finding them at the moment.
If I find them later, I’ll add those to the new Friends? page.
Added an About page
I finally started an About page that spends more time talking about how the tag line for this blog came to be than I do talking about the other usual “about” sort of stuff.
Yes, I know the correct quote. Read the page to find out why it’s altered.
Later, I’ll build another page with progression images (past, with ongoing updates) that will all have similar titles playing off my initial reaction when I found myself falling into the amazing realization that I honestly had no idea what I was getting myself into with this newly discovered “ground” now revealed since the snow had finally melted.
[Edit: later changes after this post led to the “Friends” page which may be gone by the end of Jan. 2020. so I’m not linking to it just yet from here.]

Started a plant list
There is a new page here named “Plants“. I have started adding the names of some of the plants here. Most were here without our help. Continue reading “Started a plant list”
April 17th Neighbor’s Yard visitor–yellow!
Yesterday, when it was time to take the compost out I noticed the strongest yellow fluff sitting on top of my neighbor’s short row of birdhouses and feeders (leftover from the former owner that sold the house last year.) Continue reading “April 17th Neighbor’s Yard visitor–yellow!”
Considering Herbs and Spices
Today I let an obvious notion give me a starting point. I looked in our kitchen to see what we’re really using before making up a possible herb/spice seed list.

Looked back at a year ago this time-ish
I tried to recall if we still had snow and such this far into April last year, and I found this in my run-on writing (elsewhere) on April 19th about snow still on the ground: Continue reading “Looked back at a year ago this time-ish”
