…won’t be back for Sat-ur-day. (Don’t ask me why that childhood tune has been in my head, but it has been. My brain tweaked the lyric without my help, oddly.) Continue reading “Rain, rain, fell two days…”

Rain, rain, fell two days…
Time to get the rain barrel out.
I checked the weather a bit ago, and night time temps will be roughly 10°F +/- above freezing the rest of the week. We have rain on the way starting tonight, but gentle winds, so today I’ll haul out our rain barrel from the cellar, and get it in place so it can take in some water before the winds pick up a wee bit tomorrow. Old Lily of the Valley pips
I wanted to mention that I did plant the Lily of the Valley pips, but I do not hold out much hope for them.
They, like a few other seeds and bulbs/pips I’ve had for a while spent some time due to the moves in bad storage conditions.
The pips look beyond hope, however I figured if I don’t plant them anyway, I’ll always wonder if somehow even one might have made it. I have shady room to spare right now, so I got them in the ground today.
Time will tell.
Along the driveway progress
This was barely started last year, and we found an hour to spare today with co-operation from the weather, so we hopped on it. Tomorrow I’ll post a bit more info about this project area overall.
For now, just two progress images, and I did not plan the before/after well because the shots are not exactly the same, though one seems much closer than the other thanks to Photoshop cropping. I put in arrows on the worse off pairing to show which post in the fence is the same to give a better idea of the change. Continue reading “Along the driveway progress”
Why the Frost Free countdown changed
As I myself was watching the days tick down in eager anticipation, I noticed the last few days that my usual goto site for dead basic weather information was noting frost advisories. Then today, they vanished. Continue reading “Why the Frost Free countdown changed”
Recent library reading
I had errands downtown yesterday, which were awful close to the library. So what could it hurt to stop in and visit the gardening section? Continue reading “Recent library reading”

Looked back at a year ago this time-ish
I tried to recall if we still had snow and such this far into April last year, and I found this in my run-on writing (elsewhere) on April 19th about snow still on the ground: Continue reading “Looked back at a year ago this time-ish”
