First visit to a Conservation Commission meeting.

I finally made it to one of our city’s Conservation Commission meetings.  I’ve been curious about what exactly it is they do beyond the general scope of what such a title would suggest.

Unexpectedly, one item on the agenda turned out to be something I might actually be able to help with, involving some plant sharing with another homeowner.

So far, this has been a neat development for a lot of reasons.  I’ll write more about it in the coming days.

Second rain barrel install

I updated the countdown for the install of the rain barrel itself.  That should be easy enough as long as we can get over there to pick it up on a day the center is open.  Getting the guttering up in that corner, though…that’s a bit more iffy.

It occurred to me today…

as I sit here, watching all sorts of insects hanging out on or flying by my office window that I really need to clean those windows.

That way, when I try to take close ups, my nice camera doesn’t decide to focus on the water spots instead of the intended creature.

Old Lily of the Valley pips

I wanted to mention that I did plant the Lily of the Valley pips, but I do not hold out much hope for them.

They, like a few other seeds and bulbs/pips I’ve had for a while spent some time due to the moves in bad storage conditions.

The pips look beyond hope, however I figured if I don’t plant them anyway, I’ll always wonder if somehow even one might have made it.  I have shady room to spare right now, so I got them in the ground today.

Time will tell.
